At Full Frame, Scorsese
led a tribute to Italian documentary filmmaker Vittorio De
Seta. The Sicilian master made nine short docs in the 1950s
detailing Sicilian and Sardinian life in his distinctively poetic
style. The shorts screened for the first time in the U.S. at Full
Frame with Scorsese and De Seta giving commentary.
In 1961, De Seta
made his feature film directorial debut with the acclaimed Bandits
of Orgosolo, also screened at Full Frame. Now in
his eighties, De Seta is currently at work on a digitally shot
film about African immigrants to Italy.

Scorsese also took
the stage for "An Evening with Martin Scorsese" discussing
his career and the influence of documentary films on his own work.
He has made several documentaries himself, including a new film
on Bob Dylan that will premiere on PBS in 2005.

Above, the crowd
lined up around the block for tickets to the Scorsese evening
performance.
