2nd Annual
Escapism Film Festival Comes to the
Carolina Theatre
Oct. 22-24, 2004

Durham's Carolina Theatre is one of our favorite spots for films and other special events and hosts numerous festivals and special series throughout the year.

Another in the lineup of film fests at the Carolina, the Ocober Escapism Film Festival, is organized by the same folks that bring us the successful Nevermore Film Fest every spring.

Escapism features a top-notch sampling of new horror, science-fiction and anime films, many from Far Eastern directors. 2004's lineup included films from Japan, Thailand, China and Korea, as well as a couple of award-winning titles from the US.

Even the websites for these films are impressive. Check 'em out:

Primer

Winner of the Grand Jury Award at Sundance 2004

Donnie Darko:
The Director's Cut

New version of a cult classic with many added minutes.

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence

Anime sci-fi selected for Cannes.

Gozu

Japanese director Takashi Miike's Yakuza/horror film had them laughing in Cannes. Also selected for the Toronto Film Festival.

Bang Rajan

Thai war epic has been compared to Braveheart.
