Escapism Film Festival Comes to the
Carolina Theatre
Oct. 22-24, 2004
Durham's
Carolina Theatre is one of our favorite spots for films
and other special events and hosts numerous festivals and special
series throughout the year.
Another
in the lineup of film fests at the Carolina, the Ocober Escapism
Film Festival, is organized by the same folks that bring
us the successful Nevermore
Film Fest every spring.
Escapism
features a top-notch sampling of new horror, science-fiction and
anime films, many from Far Eastern directors. 2004's lineup included
films from Japan, Thailand, China and Korea, as well as a couple
of award-winning titles from the US.

Winner
of the Grand Jury Award at Sundance 2004

New version
of a cult classic with many added minutes.

Anime
sci-fi selected for Cannes.

Japanese
director Takashi Miike's Yakuza/horror film had them laughing
in Cannes. Also selected for the Toronto Film Festival.

Thai war
epic has been compared to Braveheart.
